
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man shot and killed a would-be robber in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia Tuesday night.
A 25-year-old man was walking near 15th Street and 70th Avenue around 7 p.m. when another man approached him, announced a robbery and pointed a gun at him.
According to police, the 25-year-old turned the tables on him — he took out his gun out and shot the would-be robber, striking him with three out of the 10 shots he fired.
He died in the hospital. The 25-year-old stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

“Preliminary information is that the shooter who remained on scene, who was being robbed, does have a permit to carry,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
The 25-year-old also told police the would-be robber was with a woman in a car beforehand. She drove off when the shots were fired.
Police eventually found the car unattended a few blocks away, with bullet holes in the driver’s side. The woman was nowhere to be found. Police are trying to locate her.
