Man sentenced to 18 years for operating $54M green energy Ponzi scheme

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia federal judge sentenced a Colorado man to 18 years in prison for his role in what authorities say was one of the “largest green energy frauds in U.S. history.”

Wayde McKelvy, 59, ran Mantria Corporation in Bala Cynwyd, where he promised investors they would have a nearly 500% return on investments made for green energy and real estate.

In total, he and his two co-defendants, Troy Wragg and Amanda Knorr, raked in $54 million in fraudulent money.

All three were charged and convicted of fraud and conspiracy.

Wragg was sentenced to 22 years in prison, and Knorr was sentenced to two years.

McKelvy was also ordered to pay $37 million in restitution.
