PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was shot during an apparent road rage incident Saturday night at the entrance ramp to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in Old City.
Philadelphia police told our newsgathering partners at NBC10 that the 31-year-old victim was about to drive onto the bridge from the Vine Street Expressway when a person in a different car opened fire, striking him in the thigh and leaving several bullet holes in the car.
Police Inspector D.F. Pace said an argument led to the gunfire.
"Certainly, we do not want you to take matters into your own hands over some slight on the highway. Again, that's how we're investigating this as a road rage incident. It's dangerous for everyone involved,” he said.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to be OK. Police are still looking for the suspect and their car. Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 215-686-8477.
