PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A shooting during a robbery attempt in Frankford early Friday morning sent a man to the hospital. Minutes later, about a block away, police said a car slammed into a parked truck and flipped over. Investigators are now trying to figure out if the two incidents are connected.
Police say around 3 a.m. a 34-year-old man was shot twice on Paul Street near Womrath Street. He was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition. Police, however, said he was wanted on several warrants, but they did not specify what they were for.
Investigators also said that he was shot in front of the house where he used to live with his ex-girlfriend, but she had a protection from abuse order against him.
"So he shouldn’t even have been there," Chief Inspector Scott Small said. "But he was there for some reason, attempting to visit her, when he claims that he was shot as a result of an attempted robbery."

About three minutes after the gunfire, police said, a 2021 Toyota Prius went the wrong way down Ruan Street, turned onto Salem Street, hit a parked truck and flipped over.
"It appears that the vehicle may have been in a hurry to get somewhere or to get away from somewhere, and we’re looking into the possibility that this vehicle was speeding from the shooting scene," Small said.
Pieces of the car were torn off. The windows were smashed. Items that were in the car were scattered on the street.
Police said two men and a woman who were in the car ran off. However, the 39-year-old woman who uses the car as a Lyft, was climbing out of the smashed front passenger seat window when police arrived to help her. She had cuts and bruises and refused to be taken to the hospital. She told police she was not on duty and a friend was behind the wheel during the crash.
No one was arrested Friday morning for the crash or the shooting.
