PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are searching for several shooters after a man was killed in North Philadelphia Sunday night.

It happened on the 2200 block of North Gratz Street around 9:45 p.m.

Police said a 23-year-old man was shot at close range by two guns — a rifle and a pistol — leading detectives to believe there were at least two shooters.

One neighbor said she heard about 40 shots.

“We really didn’t know where it was coming from until my son called me … and he was like, ‘Are you OK?’” she said. “I was a little down the street, but it’s a continuous thing around here recently.”

Police have not released details about the shooters or a motive. The man who was shot has not been identified.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.

There were multiple killings in Philadelphia this weekend, but the city has actually seen a noticeable decline in homicides this year. According to police statistics as of Sunday, Philadelphia homicides are down 25% in 2026.
