PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are investigating a suspected love triangle shooting in West Philadelphia. Investigators said the suspect shot and killed a man because they were both involved with the same woman.

Officers were called to an apartment building on Conshohocken Avenue, close to the Schuylkill Expressway, around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police went up to a third-floor unit and found a 35-year-old man lying on a bed with gunshot wounds to his head and body.

“There’s also a sign of a struggle,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small. “There’s some furniture and some things overturned in that apartment.”

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police found the shooter at the apartment complex next door.

“We believe this may have been a love triangle at this point. We believe the woman who was a witness had a relationship with both of these males,” Small said.

The woman identified the 34-year-old shooter and told investigators that he dragged her out of the apartment after the shooting, police said. Investigators did not say what the man was doing at the complex when police found him, as he did not live there.

The woman did not need medical care and was taken to the homicide unit for further questioning.
