PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was killed Tuesday morning when a Penn Medicine shuttle bus hit him in the South Philadelphia neighborhood of Queen Village.
Police say, around 6 a.m., the driver turned left onto Front Street from Washington Avenue and hit a 68-year-old man trying to cross the street.
“From what we’re getting at this time from witnesses, it appears the victim ran out into the street to cross the street. He ran eastbound across the street and was struck by the driver,” said Philadelphia Police Capt. Anthony Ganard.
Police say the man was not in the crosswalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the 63-year-old woman who was driving the shuttle is cooperating.
Investigators say there were no passengers in the shuttle at the time.
