PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is in the hospital after a fight over a parking spot turned violent in Kensington Thursday afternoon.

Police were originally called to the 2700 block of A Street just before 1:30 p.m. for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found a 45-year-old man suffering from a head injury and bleeding.

Officials learned there was no shooting, but rather a verbal dispute over a parking spot “related to a snow emergency” that turned physical between the 45-year-old and a 21-year-old man.

Police said during the confrontation, the 45-year-old pulled out a knife, and the 21-year-old pulled out a handgun. Both of them then put down their weapons and started fighting.

Then, another person got involved: a 36-year-old woman who grabbed a gun from a car and struck the 45-year-old with it before discharging a round at the ground.

The 45-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition has not yet been released. All weapons were recovered from the scene.
