PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a man they say broke into the home of his 80-year-old adoptive mother in Delaware County, then assaulted and robbed her.
Authorities say on Feb. 11 around 6:30 p.m., Christopher Dougherty "forcefully entered" the Middletown Township home. Armed with a hammer, police say he duct-taped the victim to a chair, then stole about $1,150 and her cellphone.
He took her car keys and fled in her red 2002 Buick Century.
The 44-year-old man also goes by the name Peter Franco.
Troopers recovered the red Buick but are still searching for Dougherty. They believe he has ties to Havertown and Upper Darby, as well as Elkton and Rising Sun, Maryland.
Dougherty is wanted on nine different charges.
If seen, police say do not approach him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call Trooper Matthew Smith at 610-558-7080, or leave an anonymous tip at 1-800-4PA-TIPS or online.
