PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are searching for a man they say broke into a Mayfair neighborhood home and assaulted a little girl while she was sleeping.
Police say the man went inside a bedroom of a house on Cottman Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The girl was sleeping in the room with her younger sibling and awoke to the man sexually assaulting her. She somehow got away and yelled out for her mother. That’s when authorities say the man fled.
Officers were called to the home and detectives searched the area for video. They eventually found footage of a person who matched the description of the suspect.
Police say the man is about 20-to-30 years old with a large tattoo on the side of his neck with a “1” above it. He has short hair, a full beard and a thin build.
He was last seen in a surgical mask, black jacket, light-colored sweatshirt,
and dark pants. Police ask anyone with information to call 215-686-8477.
