PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police say several Southwest Philadelphia homes have been burglarized over the last three months. They believe one man is responsible.
The first reported incident was on Sept. 27 at 3:30 p.m. Police say a man with chin-length dreadlocks, wearing a light skull cap, a light-colored pullover hoodie with a logo on the front, and a large backpack, entered a house on the 800 block of South Alden Street through the front window and stole electronics and clothes.
The next burglary was on Oct. 14. A man entered a house on the 900 block of South Conestoga Street and stole a wallet and several items valued at $1,700. The next day, around 4:40 a.m., the person returned and stole about $100 worth of food. The resident believes the suspect got access to the house the second time by stealing a key the day before.
Two days later, a man climbed through the front window of a home on the 5700 block of Beaumont Street and took about $3,000 worth of items.
On Oct. 20, around 5:30 a.m., the man used the same approach and climbed through the basement window of a home on the 5200 block of Webster Street, and grabbed about $1,450 worth of items, including a wallet. The suspect left through the back door.
A few weeks later, the man went back to the house on Beaumont Street — this time, through the back door — and stole a MacBook Air. He left through the front door, which triggered the alarm.
Last week, on Nov. 7, the man went back to the house on Webster Street, around 6 a.m., while the residents were asleep on the second floor. Their dog barked and woke them up. That’s when they saw a man leave the back of the house and head west on Webster Street. This time, he took a brown leather backpack with bank cards, IDs, and other miscellaneous items, all valued at about $800.
