CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — Another escaped prisoner was arrested in Chester County on Thursday — more than 1,000 miles away from where he escaped in Missouri.

Mario Che-Tiul, 34, was in custody at Barry County Jail for charges relating to child molestation, according to CBS News. On June 1, officials say, Che-Tiul was part of a group of inmates who allegedly assaulted correctional officers and escaped.

The others were quickly apprehended, but Che-Tiul was on the run for more than three months.

The U.S. Marshals Service recently got information that he was in the Philadelphia region, said Supervisory Deputy Robert Clark.

“We just had possible locations that we believed he was frequenting. We believed he was working out here in Chester County, and he did admit that he had employment here,” Clark said.

“We developed an address he was possibly in. We proceeded to that address with members of the Chester County Criminal Investigative Division. A rooming house was surrounded, rooms were investigated, and Che-Tiul was located and arrested in one of those rooms.”

He was arrested Thursday afternoon in Avondale and taken to Chester County Prison for processing. That’s the same prison convicted murderer Danilo Cavalcante escaped from on Aug. 31, igniting a two-week manhunt.

“Of course, the Calvacante manhunt occurred for the past two weeks which tied up a lot of our time — or, all of our time, so to say. So, as soon as that investigation wrapped up, we turned back again to the Che-Tiul investigation.”

Che-Tiul will stay at the prison until he is extradited back to Missouri, Clark said.
