MEDIA, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — It was a win for Media, Delaware County in the Little League World Series as they came out on top 5-3 against Gray, Maine. Fans gathered to watch their team at State Street Pub in Media.

The Little League World Series put Media in a difficult position after a loss to Texas on Wednesday. On Saturday, it was win or go home against the New England team.

Team alumnus Brendan Richardi was among the fans at the pub and explained what they would need to do to win.

“Starting with fourteen straight wins [then] losing that first game … some teams don’t know how to respond, some teams kind of let that control them and they go out and lose again, or other teams respond.”

Fans had high hopes after the first inning with three runs for Pennsylvania, but New England fought back, catching up to tie the game at three. The Delco faithful were on the edge of their seats, wondering which team would be the first to move ahead.

That team was Media. The kids responded with two runs in the sixth inning, taking the 5-3 lead and the game. The players and their fans now prepare for the team’s next game against the Metro region squad on Sunday.

“Media wins. Media’s going all the way, I promise you that,” one fan predicted. “What a beautifully played game by some awesome kids that are working really hard right now … I’m just really proud of all of them.”
