PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed in men in the United States.
It is often slow-growing. However, in some cases, it grows rapidly and can be aggressive.
Years ago, the best method to detect prostate cancer was through a digital rectal exam to see if the prostate was smooth, but with new tests like the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA), and with greater use of MRI technology, this uncomfortable exam is being used less and less.
A new study called the probase study is suggesting that newer technology is becoming the source of truth and testing. At this point, the best advice is to talk with your physician who can help decide what's the best choice for you.
