PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you have a job that requires you to sit quite a bit, it could be bad news for your hips.
We don't talk about hip flexors that often, but these muscles are extremely important to us. Hip flexors are critical, because we use them to walk and bend and even to ride a bike.
Over the past 10 years, doctors have been treating a growing number of patients with hip flexor issues. So, what's happening?
It is quite simple: We are sitting more than ever, and when we sit, the hip flexors shorten. If they stay short for too long, the muscles tighten. They also can get weaker.
The solution: Get up and walk around when you can, stretch often, and continue to exercise. If the problem is affecting your daily health, physical therapists can work wonders
