PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Jumping into that cold, early-June ocean water may be a great way to reduce stress.
According to the latest research, a cold bath or an ice water plunge can lower the release of stress hormones for as long as three hours. Even brief exposure to cold water helps the immune system and post-workout recovery.
It is wise to start slow, though —maybe 30 seconds. And of course, check with your doctor if you have any heart issues or health issues that are of concern.
