PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There is something about New Year's Day that makes it clear the holiday season is behind us. Health experts at Dartmouth view New Year's Day as an opportunity to improve our health, and for those who may have enjoyed the holidays a bit too much, it can be a time to turn things around.

Whether you have made official resolutions or not, the team at Dartmouth suggests that you need to ask yourself why you are thinking about making lifestyle changes. If you understand your why, you are much more likely to achieve what you put in front of you.

In other words, it is not enough to lose weight or set a goal on the treadmill. You need to understand why you are doing it. The why may just be the reason you push past the temptation to fall back into old habits.
