PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Who doesn't like to laugh? We seem to feel better when we are laughing — but is it truly a good medicine?
Study after study has shown that it is, in fact, beneficial. An article in the American Psychological Association Journal cites laughter helps with stress reduction. It also can help reduce anxiety and depression.
This is not surprising — but there are many other benefits. The National Cancer Institute has found it helps with our supply of natural killer cells that fight everything from inflammation to cancer.
And, yes, laughter fights heart disease. Enjoying a good laugh is good for you.
