Medical Report: Learning about Alzheimer's symptoms early can help maximize time later

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There is no cure for Alzheimer's disease, but it is definitely not wise to ignore symptoms. One major reason for that is mood change and memory loss may not be caused by Alzheimer's. These changes can be the result of medication or depression.

If Alzheimer's is determined to be the cause, there are medications available that can delay the progression of symptoms.

In addition, there is an opportunity to plan for the future of yourself and your family. You can have a role in establishing living arrangements. And perhaps most important, you can talk honestly and openly with those you love and let them know how you feel.
