PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Rosacea is a skin condition that affects the cheeks, nose and forehead. Inflammation leads to redness of the skin as well as pustules and pimple-like areas. In some people, it causes a thickness of the skin.
Some treatments are available, but lifestyle changes can help. One of the best things you can do is to wear daily sunscreen during daytime hours all year. Avoid alcohol because it contributes to the development of rosacea, as do hot baths and spicy foods.
One final contributing factor is stress. Stress can have an impact on inflammatory conditions throughout the body. If you have rosacea or the condition is hurting your self-confidence, a visit to your doctor can help.
