PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Fans of legendary Philadelphia Disc-Jockey Pierre Robert will have a chance to purchase some of his music collection this month.
Lisa Schaffer owns Vinyl Chickie Record Shoppe & Other Delights near Glenside Station. She’s a concert photographer who knew Robert. She said she was honored when his estate offered her a chance to buy the collection of 400 vinyl records and 200 CDs after the longtime WMMR personality died in October.
“It was super emotional just because of how important Pierre is to so many people in Philadelphia,” Schaffer said. “And I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to do with them. And had to make a lot of decisions and knew that they needed to be in the hands of his fans.”
Schaffer is holding the sale on April 18.
Records range from The Grateful Dead and Bruce Springsteen to an original pressing of Prince’s "Purple Rain." Each one will have a sticker that Schaffer created with her friend Perry Shall. In a circle surrounding a picture of Robert, it reads, “From the collection of Pierre Robert.”

The one-day-only sale will be first-come, first-served with no holds or reservations. Customers will be limited to two or three records from the collection.
Schaffer expects the collection to go quickly. She thinks buyers will care more about the previous owner of the record rather than which album they’re purchasing.
“They’re coming for a little piece of one of their favorite people.”
