PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The use of liquid e-cigarettes has grown rapidly in recent years. Researchers have used artificial intelligence to look at the liquid in these products and found more than 180 substances.
They found that when these chemicals are exposed to high temperatures — which occurs while vaping — they are transformed into as many as 127 acutely toxic compounds.
They also discovered that they are converted into another 153 products that are health hazards. Researchers believe if a significant number of these dangerous compounds are not reduced or eliminated, "we are standing on the starting line of a new wave of chronic diseases that will only emerge in 15 to 20 years from now."
