PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Almost a month ago, 33,000 patients were hospitalized for COVID-19, and 1 in 25 deaths were due to the disease. It is far from pandemic numbers, but still far worse than the flu.

The widespread use of vaccines, natural immunity and somewhat weakening strains of COVID have helped, but according to a report in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), only about a quarter of people who could benefit from Paxlovid have used the drug.

The biggest concern appears to be rebound. According to the latest study, untreated COVID-19 can rebound as well.
