PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Early in the pandemic, it seemed like a far-off dream that we could develop a vaccine that works and medications that could treat COVID-19. We are at that point, and the hope is that deaths should be increasingly rare.
There is no doubt that cases are up. Over the past few months, it is not a stretch to say that most people have had a family member or close friend who has tested positive. Most of these cases are not even reported.
The Northeast is doing extremely well because of high vaccination rates and availability of paxlovid, the oral medication that has been approved for those over 12 at higher risk of issues.
There is still concern about other areas of the country, where vaccination rates are not as high. There is great hope, but we need to stay on top of this virus.
