PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Valentine's Day should be a time to cherish that special person in your life and have fun together. But it is also a great time for the American Heart Association and health care providers to ask you to take a moment to think about your heart and how important it is to take care of it.
More than 650,000 people lose their lives to heart disease each year. The No. 1 risk by far is cigarette smoking, but non-smokers are certainly not immune.
It is important to eat a healthy diet, get regular exercise, make certain you have your blood pressure checked, avoid overuse of alcohol and find ways to reduce stress.
One of the best ways you can show your love for that special valentine is to stay as healthy as possible so you can spend more time together.
