PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As the days get longer and temperatures rise, many people head outdoors to get exercise and fresh air. There are plenty of positives to that, including stress reduction and cardiovascular fitness, but there are some things to be mindful of.
Increased exposure to ultraviolet light can have an impact on our skin. While many people only think about wearing sunblock and other products at the beach, it is important to think about it all year long.
UV rays tend to be the strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The CDC recommends SPF lotions of 15 or greater, and people should reapply every two hours.
Also, check the expiration date — sunscreen without an expiration date has a shelf-life of no more than three years.
