CHERRY HILL, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A promotional TikTok for Cherry Hill’s Public Library is going viral, and at its center are two of the library’s older employees. They were featured in the short video embracing their inner Gen-Z.
Bob Minnick and Kip Bard were the stars and they've brought in a lot of calls to the library since the video's release. The mastermind behind it all, though, was 19-year-old library staffer Ashley Meter. She was inspired by a museum that did a similar promotional bit.
“I started typing the script and I was having so much fun with it. I just imagined Kip and Bob saying those things,” Meter said.
They dropped Gen-Z-laden classics like:
“Shakespeare is the original Rizz King. Pop off.”
“Our reference room is very quiet, very mindful, very demure.”
“Our art gallery ate and left no crumbs.”
Since its release, the video has been seen more than a million times.
“I knew it was going to go well, I just didn’t know it was going to go that well,” Meter said.
Library Director Laverne Mann is so proud of Meter and everyone involved for generating some buzz.
“It’s really thrilling and I’m happy to have had a place that we could do this.”
She did, however, say she was a little worried about Kip and Bob getting too famous and leaving them for a big endorsement deal.
