PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two men have been charged in connection with a stolen car that had a missing one-year-old from Delaware in it earlier this week.
Delaware authorities have charged 35-year-old Aaron Douglas and 42-year-old Randy Purnell with kidnapping, theft of a motor vehicle, child endangerment and conspiracy charges out of Newark.
Officials say they were involved in the stealing of a Nissan Altima with a baby girl inside of it Wednesday night outside a 7-11 in Newark, Delaware.
Police say before stealing the car, a black SUV pulled up and, when the person in the car with the baby got out, someone from the SUV hopped in the Altima, promptly fleeing the scene.
A few hours later, the baby was found behind a Fine Wine & Good Spirits store in Philadelphia’s Fairhill neighborhood, and she was eventually reunited with her family.
Officials later located the stolen Altima in Kensington and have since recovered the SUV.
Both Purnell and Douglas were taken into custody and are expected to be extradited back to Delaware in the coming weeks.
