PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two men believed to be behind a murder along the Schuylkill River Trail earlier this month.
Arrest warrants have been issued for 23-year-old Cody Reed from Norristown and 23-year-old Marquise Johnson from Philadelphia.
Both men are wanted on charges of first-degree murder. They are accused of shooting and killing Daquan Tucker, 25, whose body was found around 9 a.m. on March 3 along the Schuylkill River Trail by a bicyclist. Investigators say all three men knew each other and believe the shooting may have been in retaliation for a recent robbery in Philadelphia.
On March 2, investigators say Reed called for an Uber to pick up Tucker and bring him to Reed’s apartment in Norristown.
Charging documents say cell phone data from Tucker’s phone show him traveling to Reed’s apartment then moving along the Schuylkill River Trail near the line between West Norriton and Norristown, where Tucker’s body was found. His phone eventually moved back toward Reed’s apartment before the signal ended.
Police say surveillance video shows Johnson and Reed, the two suspected in the shooting, in the same area walking together toward Reed’s apartment.
The criminal complaint says both Reed and Johnson have lengthy criminal histories, with Reed currently out on bail on criminal conspiracy charges and on probation for a 2018 robbery conviction.
Authorities ask if you see or have any information on either suspect to contact West Norriton Police at 610-630-1701 or Montgomery County Detectives at 610-226-5553.
