Medical Report: Gaps in mental health care persist despite worldwide prevalence

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — More and more people are dealing with anxiety and depression since the pandemic.

As a result, a major gap in our health care system is becoming quite evident: There are not enough services for those with mental health conditions.


A new study out of Copenhagen looked at the lifetime risk of developing a mental health disorder — casting a spotlight on the fact that more than 50% of people throughout the world have mental health issues at some point in their lives.

It is time to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health and realize that there needs to be funding and greater access to treatment.
