
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A man has been charged with setting fire to a beloved West Chester bar earlier this week.
Flames broke out at Jake’s Bar on Matlack Street around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Upon arrival, fire crews said two people were trapped on the roof of the building. A third person fell from the second story while trying to escape.
Michael Thompson, 22, of Delaware County, was taken into custody Thursday in connection with the fire.
He is facing charges of attempted criminal homicide, aggravated arson, burglary and other offenses.
Jake’s Bar has since reopened.
