PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A former teacher from Cape May pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a child.
The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office said 36-year-old Laura Caron pleaded guilty to second-degree endangering the welfare of a child last week.
Caron was working as a 5th-grade teacher at Middle Township Elementary when she began a sexual relationship with an 11-year-old student.
Investigators said the inappropriate relationship continued for years, from 2016 to 2020, while the boy was living in Caron’s home, and she had a baby fathered by the student.
As part of her guilty plea, Caron will spend five years in prison, must forfeit her teaching license, and cannot work in a public role again.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2027.
