PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Former longtime Philadelphia sports talk host Mike Missanelli was arrested Wednesday after authorities said he struck his fiancée.
According to charging documents, Lower Merion police were called to a home in Wynnewood shortly after midnight Wednesday morning after someone called 911, then hung up. Missanelli, 70, told responding officers that he and his fiancée got into a “scuffle,” during which she struck him in the chest.
His fiancée told officers they had been arguing about their engagement. During the argument, officers said she told them Missanelli hit her with an open hand on the left side of her head. An officer reportedly noticed a fresh cut on her head as well as swelling to her left ear. Authorities said Missanelli had no visible injuries.
The former radio personality was charged with simple assault. Bail was set at $10,000 on the condition of no contact with the victim. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for April 22.
