Montgomery County authorities seek public’s help finding suspects in shooting death of 19-year-old

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The Montgomery County District Attorney’s office and Norristown police have asked the public for help as they investigate Sunday evening’s deadly shooting of a 19-year-old.

Hamid Boyd was shot just after 6 p.m. on Powell Street between Elm and Spruce streets in Norristown. Police were notified by ShotSpotter, an automated gunshot detection system, and found Boyd at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite first responders’ efforts to save Boyd, he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Prosecutors said three males got into a white sedan, possibly a Chevrolet, and drove away after the shooting. They released images from cameras in the area.

The district attorney’s office is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of those responsible.
