WEST POTTSGROVE, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The Media Little League team may have come up short in their first World Series game on Wednesday, but our region has found another champion to represent it. A 6-year-old boy from Montgomery County has won the title of best mullet in the country.
Rory Ehrlich of West Pottsgrove perfected his “business in the front, party in the back” look over the last year, and the day he's been waiting for finally arrived.
His mother Airen tells our partners at NBC10 that they decided to enter the 2023 USA Mullet Championships for a little fun, and when she opened her computer to see the results, she screamed in disbelief.
Her son, who went by the name "Cheddar Wiz" in this contest, joined the ranks of Hulk Hogan, David Bowie and Billy Ray Cyrus with a mullet that got people talking. Rory finished first out of 25 finalists. “I still feel just totally overwhelmed with emotions, in every way,” said Airen.
Rory wasn’t the only Keystone State kid to make the finals. Luzerne County’s Kamden Cunningham, nicknamed “The Kammander,” placed third in the competition, behind Rory and Hawaii’s Ezekiel Arita. “Thank you for voting for me,” Rory told his fans.
With the title comes a $5,000 cash prize. Rory says he plans to spend some of it on another alpaca for his sister. The Ehrlichs care for one now, but they say living life without a buddy might break its heart … its achy breaky heart.
