PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy was arrested in New Jersey on possession and distribution of child pornography charges.
According to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, 57-year-old James "Chris" Buckley, from Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, was arrested on two charges of endangering the welfare of children, one for possession of child pornography and one for distribution of child pornography.
The prosecutor’s office said the investigation started from a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children cyber tip regarding images that were viewed and distributed on March 16, 2020, while Buckley was on vacation in Wildwood.
According to charging documents, when interviewed by police, Buckley admitted to possessing the images, and to emailing the images to himself to view later.
The charging documents say Buckley told investigators he found the images while searching for adult pornography on Tumblr during the pandemic. According to the affidavit of probable cause, “he was viewing as his younger self.”
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office immediately suspended Buckley, pending the outcome of the investigation.
