PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A mother has died, days after she and her young son were struck by a car in a hit-and-run collision over the weekend in Philadelphia.

Rebecca "Becky" Malave's son Armani, 3, is still fighting for his life.

Becky and her son were walking near their North Philadelphia Home on West Luzerne Street near Rising Sun Avenue at about 8 p.m. Sunday when a vehicle struck them.

The vehicle then fled the scene.

Becky was initially put on life support, but her sister, Lorraine Graulau, told NBC10 that Becky has died.

A motorcycle driver saved Armani's life by picking him up at the scene and driving him to the hospital, according to Graulau.

Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver, while the family is also trying to find the motorcycle driver who rescued the boy. He is now in intensive care at St. Christopher's Hospital, according to NBC10.

"This kid is fighting for his life all by himself, without a mother right now. It's just a whole sad situation and we just want it resolved," Graulau told KYW Newsradio's Andrew Kramer on Tuesday.

"We just want to get through it and know what happened, and why."
