Motorcyclist dies after slamming into car in Northeast Philadelphia, critically injuring driver

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A motorcyclist was killed and a driver was seriously injured in a crash in Northeast Philadelphia Sunday night.

It happened just before 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Tomlinson Road in the city’s Somerton neighborhood.

Police said the driver of a blue Suzuki motorcycle was speeding northbound on Bustleton when they ran a red light and slammed into a Lexus.

The 27-year motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. The 50-year-old behind the wheel of the Lexus is in critical condition at the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.
