PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are trying to identify two young men who robbed a Northeast Philadelphia dollar store over the weekend.
It happened just before 12:30 p.m. on April 11 at the Dollar General along Oxford Avenue, near Rhawn Street, in the Fox Chase neighborhood.
Detectives said the two tried to reload gift cards using a barcode on their phone, and when it didn’t work, one of the suspects said to the lone cashier, “I have a gun, don’t play with me.”
The suspects ordered the employee to manually process the transactions on the register, and the pair got away with two gift cards worth $500 each. They fled in a white sedan.
Officials ask anyone who recognizes them to call police. Tips can be submitted by calling or texting 215-686-8477, or anonymously online.
