PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with two strong-arm robbery incidents last week in Center City.

Police said both incidents happened on Tuesday, April 7. The first one reportedly occurred at the 7-Eleven store at 12th and Chestnut streets around 6:30 p.m. That's when an employee stopped a male in his teens for allegedly taking some items without paying for them. The employee claimed the offender punched them several times, then took off.

About a half an hour later, authorities said a 34-year-old man was walking along the 1600 block of Walnut Street when someone grabbed his cell phone out of his hand and started to run.

The victim chased after the suspect and grabbed him. Both fell to the ground. The suspect then allegedly punched the victim several times in the head before fleeing. The man's cell phone was returned to him by a passerby.

Police urge anyone with information about the incident or suspect to call 911 or their anonymous tip line at (215) 686-TIPS.
