PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A squabble between neighbors over trash turned violent when shots were fired and a man was wounded Tuesday night in North Philadelphia.
It happened on North Hicks Street, near Indiana Avenue. Neighbors were arguing over the placement of garbage on the curb, and police were called to break it up Tuesday morning. But it didn’t end there.
Around 10 p.m., the situation escalated. Someone involved in the dispute fired shots into the front door of a home, and a 30-year-old man was hit in the torso and legs, police said. Medics rushed the shooting victim to the hospital, where he was said to have been in critical but stable condition.
The man had a screwdriver and may have threatened the person who ended up shooting him, police said. Investigators were not initially sure if the shooter was a 37-year-old woman or a 17-year-old boy. Both of them were taken in for questioning. Police said two guns were recovered.
Police did not say if charges would be filed.
