SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — New evidence has emerged in a decades-old cold case and authorities in Atlantic County say they need help identifying the victim.
The unidentified female victim was found dead in Mullica Township in 1988. Investigators have new information they hope will help determine her identity. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office wants to hear from anyone who knew James “Crab Daddy” Whiting, who died in 2011.
DNA has matched Whiting as the biological father of the victim. Detectives want to hear from anyone who may have known him or the victim’s mother in order to positively identify her.
The victim was a Black woman, about 5-foot-2, and had at least one child before her death. Investigators believe she was born between 1953 and 1963.
The FBI is also investigating this case. Anyone who knew Whiting is asked to contact them or the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
