NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey Congressman Donald Norcross is back from a trip to the Middle East where he spoke with leaders in Israel about the ongoing war with Hamas.

Norcross says the motivation behind Hamas’ attack at the Supernova music festival in the Negev desert, and in residential neighborhoods, is “pure evil,” and that Israel has every right to seek the destruction of the terrorist organization.

“There are no excuses, justification whatsoever, under any circumstances, for Hamas to do what they did and they need to be eliminated,” said Norcross.

The Democratic congressman says this horrific attack has similarities to 9/11, and he doesn’t think peace is possible right now.

“On 9/12, 9/13, 9/14, I don’t think I heard anybody in this country say ‘Oh gee, we should go easy on ’em. No big deal. Let’s talk about peace.’ This is a gaping wound.”

He says Israel has to do what they have to do: Eliminate Hamas.

“They hide in schools. They hide in hospitals,” he said. “We need to separate the Palestinian people from Hamas. But for those who have been protecting them, there’s no excuse for that either.”

Norcross says this is a matter of right and wrong and to him, it’s black and white.

“Hamas’ manifesto is clear. They want to eliminate Israel and all of their citizens. They are pure evil.”

Norcross spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other leaders about steps to take going forward. They emphasized border protection “so this doesn’t ever happen again,” Norcross said.
