PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — SEPTA said tweaks to its summer Regional Rail schedules should provide more reliable service.
After last year's Regional Rail car shortages due to fire inspections, SEPTA said 98% of its fleet is now running. So the new Regional Rail schedules that take effect on Sunday, July 5, should offer more predictable service, said SEPTA senior press officer Kelly Greene.
"Customers will see more four-car trains, especially on lines with higher ridership. And that's really a result of our crews in the field who have been working hard to keep the fleet running," Greene said.
She said riders should see more consistent stops on some lines.
"We're simplifying express service on the Lansdale/Doylestown and Media/Wawa lines, so that means an express train will always make the same stops, which makes service more predictable."
The new schedule also routes more trains through Penn Medicine Station, with 15 more daily stops there.
