NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A South Jersey mail carrier has been arrested on federal charges after he was accused of stealing checks while on his delivery route.
Prosecutors say Jordan Harrison, a postal worker in Sewell, Gloucester County, admitted to taking tens of thousands of dollars in checks from the mail.
According to the criminal complaint, Harrison was caught on surveillance video opening letters, taking pictures of the contents, and concealing mail under his shirt.
According to the United States Attorney's office, Harrison put several checks for sale on the messaging app Telegram.
Prosecutors say he also admitted to stealing and selling an arrow key, which the postal service uses to access blue collection boxes and apartment mail panels.
Harrison faces a charge of conspiracy to commit mail theft. He waived a preliminary hearing and has been released on bond. Another hearing has not been set.
