PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The head of the Philadelphia FBI will not be charged after fatally shooting a dog in Center City last month.
Surveillance video from the Feb. 20 incident shows Special Agent in Charge Jacqueline Maguire on a bench when a pit bull rushed toward her and pulled her dog off of her lap.
The off-duty agent shot the pit bull after unsuccessfully trying to separate the two dogs.
It happened around 8 p.m. near 15th and Spruce streets.
Officials said Maguire's actions do not meet the standards for recklessness or animal cruelty, NBC10 reported.
The pit bull's owner said Maguire's actions were reckless and showed a disregard for the safety of other people nearby.
