PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Pitch In for Baseball and Softball, a nonprofit based in Harleysville, is holding an event to hand out equipment to more than 75 teams from the region.
The nonprofit provides baseball and softball equipment to help teams and programs all over the world, and CEO Meredith Kim said they will be holding a drive-thru event today at their facility in Harleysville, distributing equipment to some 75 teams from Philadelphia-area schools that were approved for a grant through their school-based program.
The equipment was originally meant to be distributed for the 2020 season, but with schools and seasons canceled due to the pandemic, it rolled over to the 2021 seasons.
"We will be helping about 1,300 kids this year and it's generously supported by the Phillies and the Springfield Rotary," she said.
Since being founded back in 2005, Pitch in For Baseball and Softball has donated equipment to more than 900,000 kids across the globe.
