PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A South Jersey mom who was reported missing on Mother’s Day has been found dead in North Jersey.

Norelis Mendoza, 32, of Lindenwold, Camden County, was last seen leaving her mom’s house in Jersey City on May 13. She was reported missing the next day.

Her body was found on Wednesday off a highway near the border of Jersey City and Bayonne.

Investigators said her death is considered suspicious at this time. Her cause of death has not yet been determined.

Mendoza’s cousin, Giovanni Molina, told NBC4 in New York that she was a “loving mother, somebody that would never leave their children behind on Mother’s Day.”

She's survived by two children — a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact the office at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip online.
