Norristown fire forces evacuations from six homes

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A massive fire swept across six homes in Norristown on Wednesday afternoon, creating major damage and forcing evacuations.

KYW newsgathering partners at NBC 10 reported the two-alarm fire started shortly before 3:30 p.m. near Lafayette Street and Haws Avenue.

Responding firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control. No injuries have been reported.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. Officials have not yet revealed the cause of the fire.
