PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The emergency management coordinator at North Penn School District in Montgomery County has resigned amid accusations that he lied about his law enforcement experience.

Brandon Rhone was hired as North Penn School District’s top security officer in 2022.

Superintendent Todd Bauer addressed the accusations in a statement at Tuesday night’s Safe Schools meeting.

“During the development process, [Rhone] provided a bio that included, quote, ‘17 years’ experience as a police officer in Pennsylvania,’ and, quote, ‘He retired from the force as a decorated operations captain.’ That information was inaccurate,” Bauer said.

The superintendent said the district regrettably posted that inaccurate information, but parents and law enforcement members said they have spent years demanding answers about why Rhone claimed to be a police officer when there was no record of his service.

Rhone said he never should have done this, and the situation was avoidable. He said he resigned so the district could move forward.
